Dr Peters studied medicine in Berlin Freie Universität, Madrid Universidad Complutense and London RPMS Hammersmith Hospital and qualified in 1997. He then worked clinically at the Charité University Hospital in Berlin and did scientific research on molecular biology of gastrointestinal tumor cells. He received his doctoral degree at the Charité Berlin with summa cum laude in 2002.
He completed his residency at the Ruppiner Kliniken in Neuruppin and became a specialist in internal medicine in 2005 and in gastroenterology in 2007 before becoming consultant at the Jewish Hospital Berlin and subsequently head of the department of internal medicine, gastroenterology and diabetology. Before moving to Spain and opening his private practice in the city center of Marbella in 2013 he worked for 6 months at the Timaru Hospital in New Zealand and became Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Otago, Dunedin.
He is a Fellow of the European Board of Hepatology and Gastroenterology FEBG and a fully registered active member of the Colegio de Medicos de Malaga with a recognized specialization in internal medicine and in gastroenterology. He is also registered at the Ärztekammer Berlin and the New Zealand Medical Board.
Dr Peters has published several peer reviewed articles in highly recognized international publications: Gastroenterology, Endoscopy, Cancer Research, Journal of the National Cancer Institute. He has given numerous scientific presentations at national and international conventions.
