Botox treatments

With over 4 million procedures performed in 2006, the treatment of wrinkles with BOTOX® or Vistabel® is the most popular minimally-invasive cosmetic procedure performed. Used to treat facial lines and wrinkles such as forehead lines, frown lines, crow’s feet, and lines around the neck, BOTOX® or Vistabel® are the registered product names for Botulinum toxin, Type A. Botulinum toxin is produced by a bacterium known as “clostridium botulinum”. In small doses, botulinum toxin can be used safely to reduce the appearance of facial lines and wrinkles. In addition, botulinum toxin has been shown to be an effective method for treating other conditions, such as migraines, excessive sweating, and muscle spasms, among others. With little downtime and almost immediate results, BOTOX® or Vistabel® can help you restore a smoother, more youthful appearance to the face.

You will most likely begin to notice the results within a few days following the procedure. As the muscles in the treatment area are unable to contract, the appearance of facial lines and wrinkles will decrease. The results from a single procedure last approximately 3 to 4 months after which you can receive subsequent injections to maintain the desired results. Although the results are temporary, BOTOX® or Vistabel® can safely and effectively help to restore the smooth, more youthful appearance you desire.

Filler treatments

While BOTOX® or Vistabel® are used to reduce the appearance of so-called dynamic wrinkles, that means folds and wrinkles which appear when the facial muscle contract, filler treatments are targeted at the so-called static wrinkles, those are wrinkles which stay in the skin even when the facial muscles are totally relaxed. Every wrinkle is reversible (dynamic) in the beginning, but over the time the pulling of the muscles at the skin cause an irreversible break-down of the elastic fibers of the skin; the wrinkle becomes permanent (static).

In those cases the use of temporary or semi-permanent fillers can lift up the depression of the fold, smoothen out the skin and reduce the overall appearance of the wrinkles. Another field is the use of fillers to enhance the volume of the lip or cheekbones, the correction of certain scars or asymmetries of the face.

The effect of a filler treatment is immediate, you may experience a slight swelling, light redness or bruising of the treated area for 1-2 days which will quickly vanish. Depending on the filler substance chosen, the results from a single procedure can last from 5 to 6 months up to 18 months, after which you can receive subsequent injections to maintain the desired results.
